Product description
This is a ceramic vase by Roth Keramik, a characteristic example of West German 'Fat Lava' design from the 1960s. The piece is distinguished by its volcano-inspired shape and contrasting glazes, typical of this influential period in European ceramic history.
The vase is made of ceramic and combines a glossy orange glaze on the bulbous body with a thick, matte black 'Fat Lava' glaze on the neck. This special glazing technique creates a rough, porous texture reminiscent of solidified lava, giving each piece a unique character. The original manufacturer's label from Roth Keramik has been preserved on the body of the object, emphasizing its authenticity.
The overall condition of the vase is very good and consistent with its age. The glazes are intact and retain their original color intensity. The piece shows the typical patina for vintage ceramics, which underlines its historical character.
As a sculptural object, this vase is excellent as an accent piece on a sideboard, a shelf, or a side table. It seamlessly integrates into Mid-Century Modern, vintage, or eclectic style interiors and can be presented individually or as part of a collection of ceramic art.
