This rare set of nesting tables, designed by Severin Hansen and produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, is a refined example of Danish cabinetmaking from the 1960s. While beautifully restrained at first glance, the tables reveal an extraordinary level of craftsmanship upon closer inspection. Hansen’s signature mitred corners create uninterrupted grain lines that continue seamlessly from the tabletop into the legs, giving each table the appearance of being carved from a single piece of rosewood.
The set consists of one larger console-height table with two smaller nesting tables that slide neatly beneath it. Together they form a sculptural composition; separated, they offer flexible use throughout the home as side tables, occasional tables or a compact coffee table arrangement. Their slender tapered legs and crisp architectural lines allow the richly figured rosewood to take centre stage.
The rosewood veneer displays exceptional grain patterns with deep chocolate tones and dramatic black figuring, characteristics for which Brazilian rosewood is so highly regarded. The tables retain their original Danish Furnituremakers’ Control badge and Haslev label, confirming their authenticity and quality.
Professionally refinished in our workshop, the set is presented in excellent vintage condition with a smooth satin finish that highlights the natural beauty of the timber while preserving its original character.
