About the Designers
Michael Boehm belongs to the generation of designers who shaped Rosenthal’s elegant late-20th-century modernism. His work is characterized by architectural clarity, restrained proportions, and a subtle sculptural rigor. “Debut” reflects this language perfectly: a cylindrical volume interrupted only by a single geometric support element and delicate vertical modulation along the edge.
French designer Cédric Ragot approached objects very differently. Fascinated by material transformation, motion, and deformation, he became internationally known for creating forms that appear digitally manipulated or physically liquefied. His “Squall” vase for Rosenthal extends ideas first explored in his celebrated “Fast” series from 2007, translating the energy of a whirlwind or vortex into porcelain.
The Squall series received both the IF Design Award 2017 and the German Design Award 2017, establishing it as one of Rosenthal’s most iconic contemporary sculptural porcelain designs.
