This Rosenthal Studio-Line dinnerware set, designed by Tapio Wirkkala, exemplifies late 1970s modernist design. The 'Polygon White' pattern is characterised by its multi-sided geometric angles and minimalist architectural aesthetic, making it a highly collectible addition to any dining collection.
Crafted in Germany from fine glazed porcelain, the set features a crisp white finish that highlights the faceted rims and octagonal borders. The collection includes dinner plates measuring approximately 25 centimetres, soup or salad bowls, a large octagonal serving platter, a covered soup tureen or vegetable bowl with its original lid, an open serving bowl, and a covered casserole server, also with its original lid. The pieces bear the Rosenthal Studio-Linie Germany maker's mark.
The set remains in very good vintage condition, with the glazed finish appearing clean and bright, and the faceted edges retaining their crispness. It shows minimal signs of light handling consistent with age and careful use.
