Product description
Signed screen print 6/800 by Robert Heijkoop.
Frame: lightly painted wood. Size 52x52cm. Image 34.5x34.5 cm.
Robert Heykoop
Born in Amsterdam in 1939
Self-taught artist.
1969 Assistant to Prof Bernhard at the Berlin School of Fine Art .
Heijkoop's works nestle between Brueghel and Horst Antes. Like set pieces, the heads, hands and bodies reduced to planes are shifted until they form strange hermaphrodite-like creatures. The often armored and constricted bodies further contribute to the enigmatic and surrealistic atmosphere that predominates in the works of art. Few details refer to the actual theme of the artwork. Focused on satire and yet overloaded with loving irony, Heijkoop points out social weaknesses such as hypocrisy.
Numerous exhibitions in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
