About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This sideboard is a tribute to the work of the influential Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld. The piece of furniture, made of light oak, embodies the aesthetic principles of the De Stijl movement. The composition of horizontal and vertical lines and planes creates an architectural and sculptural object that is both functional and artistic.
The construction is entirely made of solid oak, with the joints and ends of the slats accented with white paint, a characteristic detail in many of Rietveld's designs. The sideboard offers significant storage space with a central cabinet section with two doors, flanked by sets of open drawers. An open shelf at the bottom and a raised shelf at the top enhance the spatial and open structure of the design.
The furniture is in very good condition, with a well-preserved original oak finish. The structure is solid and all parts are intact, testifying to high-quality craftsmanship and careful use over the years. The piece retains its authentic character and the clear, geometric aesthetic envisioned by the designer.
As a striking statement piece, this sideboard is excellently suited for a modern, minimalist, or eclectic interior. It functions not only as practical storage furniture in a living or dining room but also as an autonomous design object that engages in a dialogue with the surrounding space.
