Ries Kleijnen is fascinated by man, animals and environment, and these subjects are still the strength of her graphic oeuvre. Her works are impressions of relationships between people or, on the contrary, depict loneliness, and carry within them an invitation to philosophize. On her working trip through Chile in 1992, Kleijnen also stayed on Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean, the most remote island in the world with its magical images. In a number of etchings, the images play a leading role.
