About This Design
This Richard Smeets original, hand-signed screen print by Dutch artist Richard Smeets (Gennep, 1955), trained at the Stadsacademie Beeldende Kunsten in Maastricht. It is an art object from the original graphics category, originating from the collection of Art Lease BV Kunstuitleen in Utrecht. The work is signed in pencil and annotated “H.C. 1/12”, a hors commerce copy outside the regular edition, limited to twelve pieces.
The composition of this Richard Smeets screen print is characteristic of the artist's lyrical-abstract style, with layered horizontal bands in deep red and dark green, combined with accents in blue, green, and ochre yellow. The image incorporates tulip and heart motifs, fitting the period in which Smeets focused on the Dutch landscape. The work is framed behind glass in an aluminium interchangeable frame with a white passe-partout and equipped with hanging wire, making it immediately ready for display.
