This is the iconic "Pavone" chair by Italian designer Riccardo Dalisi for Zanotta. Its playful, sculptural form is a tribute to a peacock, making it a true conversation piece that blurs the line between furniture and art object.
The chair was designed in 1986 and is made of nickel-plated and chrome-plated steel, giving it an elegant shine. The bright yellow and coral red details on the feet, head, and "plumage" emphasize its figurative character. Measuring 92.5 cm in height, 52 cm in width, and 54 cm in depth, this piece is an example of the postmodern Italian design for which Zanotta's "Edizioni" collection is known.
This chair is in very good, well-maintained condition, consistent with its age and history. It is an authentic collector's item that reflects Dalisi's creative vision and Zanotta's craftsmanship. It is perfect as an accent chair in a living room, bedroom, or hallway, adding a special touch to any space that appreciates a touch of design history and personality.
Provenance
The object is accompanied by an original Zanotta hang tag bearing Dalisi's image and signature, a
Zanotta brochure and an original inventory card. The card is marked “5/93” and records “Zan. Edition”,
“5100 (217)”, “PAVONE von Riccardo Dalisi” and “DM 3.200,-”. According to the owner, the chair has
never been in regular use and has been stored in a dry environment since the early 1990s.

The new photographs show an overall very well-preserved construction. Slight age-related traces are visible on lacquered details and individual metal areas. No restoration or repainting work has been carried out.
The Pavone is not an ordinary mass-produced piece of furniture, but a highly sculptural object at the interface of art and design. The included original designs, Dalisi's signature on the object, as well as the Zanotta hang tag, the brochure, and the original inventory card prove its traceability and attractiveness for collectors.
