For sale is a carefully restored vintage leather chair with a solid wood frame and characteristic leather upholstery.
The chair has undergone a comprehensive yet carefully preserved restoration. The goal of the restoration was to maintain the original construction, design, and material character as authentically as possible, avoiding any alteration of the piece through contemporary refinishing.
Restoration
The solid wood frame was meticulously refinished. The existing wood joints were inspected and, where necessary, professionally re-glued.
The surface was intentionally treated with minimal finish to preserve the natural structure and age-related patina of the wood.
The original leather upholstery served as a reference for the re-upholstery. The shape, cut, cutouts, hems, and characteristic fastening method were replicated as faithfully as possible.
Leather
High-quality vegetable-tanned cowhide was used for the seat and back upholstery. The well-preserved original leather was used for the underside of the seat.
Color: Cognac / warm whiskey brown
The natural leather has a high-quality, natural surface and will develop a unique patina with use.
Condition and Restoration
Following the completion of restoration, the chair is in very good and stabilized condition.
The frame was inspected and stabilized where necessary. The leather upholstery was completely renewed.
Existing age-related characteristics of the wood were not completely smoothed over, but largely preserved in the spirit of authentic restoration.
Authenticity and Classification
The construction and design of the chair indicate a high-quality, handcrafted piece of furniture.
The manufacturer, designer, and exact model have not yet been definitively identified. Therefore, this offer is expressly made without attribution to a specific designer or manufacturer.
The existing original leather upholstery was used as a template during the restoration, allowing essential details of the original design to be reconstructed.
