About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Designer: Miroslav Prokop
This elegant table lamp originates from 1930s Czechoslovakia and is a remarkable example of the Bauhaus movement's influence on local design. The piece was designed by Miroslav Prokop, who imbued the lamp with the characteristic austerity, functionality, and geometric purity essential to this interwar avant-garde style. The chrome-plated steel construction with a flexible neck reflects the era’s pursuit of merging industrial aesthetics with the needs of modern living, resulting in an object that is as practical as it is visually striking.
Thanks to professional restoration and a complete electrical overhaul, the lamp is in excellent technical condition and fully ready for safe use in contemporary interiors. The restoration process sensitively preserved the authentic character of the chrome-plated surface, which has acquired a desirable patina over the years, underscoring the historical depth and originality of this piece. The combination of high-quality craftsmanship and clean industrial style makes this lamp a timeless accessory that serves as a bold design element in any room.
Given its authorship, its place in the iconic Modernist era, and its excellent restored condition, this lamp holds high collector and market value. For design enthusiasts, it represents a unique solitaire that carries the legacy of Czechoslovak interwar creation, which retains its prestige across generations thanks to its sober elegance. The lamp is thus not merely a functional light source, but primarily an investment in design history that gains new context and high artistic value in a modern home.
