About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This tubular steel ottoman / stool is an excellent exemplar of Central European interwar functionalism and timeless Bauhaus design from the 1930s. It was manufactured in Czechoslovakia by the acclaimed Robert Slezák company, a true pioneer and one of the country's most prominent producers of tubular metal furniture. The design stands out with its elegant cantilever (springing) frame and clean geometric lines.
The piece has undergone a comprehensive professional restoration with the utmost attention to detail. The bent frame made of tubular chrome-plated steel has been professionally cleaned and buffed to a mirror shine, while fully retaining its structural strength and resilience. The seat features completely new professional coil-spring upholstery, crafted in strict accordance with authentic traditional methods to guarantee superb comfort and long-lasting shape retention. It is finished with a premium, densely woven textile cover in a sophisticated earthy grey-brown tone.
This fully functional and aesthetically refined stool is a valuable collector's item. It will serve perfectly as a comfortable footrest paired with a modernist armchair (such as those by Marcel Breuer or Thonet) or as a standalone accent seating option within high-end contemporary, industrial, or functionalist spaces.
