ProfessionalProduct description
The Josef Hoffmann side table, produced by the Wiener Werkstätte in the 1910s, represents a defining moment in early twentieth-century European design. This specific piece exemplifies the transition towards Art Deco, characterised by its rigorous geometry and refined architectural silhouette. Constructed from dark stained wood, the table features a circular top above a secondary lower tier, providing both structural stability and functional surface area. The piece is elevated by four distinctive fluted legs, a signature motif that adds vertical emphasis to the compact form. The primary surface is finished in a contrasting black tone, complementing the rich brown patina of the wooden frame. Originating from the Czech region during a period of intense creative output, the table embodies the meticulous craftsmanship associated with the Wiener Werkstätte. The table remains in good overall condition, having undergone previous restoration work while retaining its historical character. The wooden surfaces display a natural patina, with the original finish showing maturity consistent with over a century of existence. It remains structurally sound and fully functional for contemporary use. Revived original polish, stable solid construction. This historical design object serves as a sophisticated focal point in a curated interior. It pairs exceptionally well with early modernist seating or serves as a distinguished standalone accent in a minimalist or classic living space. Ref.: 3301
