ProfessionalProduct description
This restored Art Deco bookcase by Czech manufacturer Vichr a spol. exemplifies the sophisticated cabinetry of the 1930s. The piece commands attention through its striking book-matched walnut veneer and elegant architectural silhouette, reflecting the transition between classical proportions and modernist functionalism. Constructed with meticulous attention to detail, the cabinet features a dual-section design. The upper display area is enclosed by transparent sliding glass doors, offering generous shelving for literature or decorative objects. Below, a substantial storage compartment is concealed behind twin wooden doors, secured by a central lock with its accompanying key. The rich brown tones of the polished wood are sharply contrasted by gleaming silver-toned chrome accents, including the distinctive semi-circular handles, vertical trim, and the continuous tubular metal base that elevates the structure. Having undergone a comprehensive restoration, the bookcase presents in highly commendable condition while retaining its historical integrity. The high-gloss finish beautifully accentuates the natural grain patterns of the walnut, ensuring the piece remains both a functional storage solution and a significant work of design history. The original hardware functions smoothly, preserving the authentic character of its era. This distinguished cabinet serves as a focal point in a refined study, living room, or executive office. Its seamless blend of warm wood and cool metal allows it to integrate effortlessly into both period-accurate Art Deco interiors and contemporary spaces seeking a statement piece of European heritage. Solid wood veneered with walnut veneer. Glass sliding door. Professionally cleaned chrome. Restored to a high gloss which enhances the luxurious look and beauty of the walnut veneer. Ref.: 3166
