The artist is a designer and concept developer. In practice, the artist operates at the intersection of art, education, and social engagement. Central to the work is the question of what can emerge when people, stories, and different perspectives come into contact. Process, encounter, and connection form an important common thread in this. The artist studied Industrial Design at TU Eindhoven and also pursued Illustrative Design at Sint Lucas Antwerp. The background in design, education, and concept development comes together in a broad artistic practice involving both autonomous and participatory work. As the initiator of NUDE, forms of participatory art are explored in which the boundary between maker and participant blurs. The presence and stories of people can become part of the final work, where the result is not always predetermined. DifferAnts was also founded, an initiative in which imagination is used to make societal differences open for discussion and to bring people closer together. This interest in movement, layering, and encounter is also visible in the paintings. Colors, shapes, and brushstrokes seek each other out, collide, disappear, and reappear. Painting thus becomes not an illustration of a fixed narrative, but a process in which room remains for the viewer's own associations. Description of the painting 120 × 80 cm In this expressive work of 120 × 80 cm, an intense palette of red, carmine, burgundy, orange, and golden yellow dominates. Dark green-black brushstrokes cut through the composition and give the painting direction and structure, while small white accents appear like flashes of light on top of the color onslaught. The many round and organic forms alternately evoke flowers, buds, fruits, seeds, and flames. They are recognizable enough to evoke associations, yet abstract enough not to be limited to a single meaning. Some forms seem to open up, while others appear still hidden or in development. This creates a continuous sense of growth and change. The painting is built up from different layers. Broad gestures, circular movements, and visible brushstrokes run over and through one another. A dense network of forms emerges, especially in the center, while the warm yellow areas at the top and the dark passages in the upper right create a strong tension. From close up, individual strokes, color blends, and structures stand out; from a greater distance, they combine to form almost a landscape of organic movement. The work possesses an air of both exuberance and restlessness. The red provides warmth, vitality, and intensity, while the dark areas act as a counterweight. This creates a painting that does not seem to stand still: it grows, moves, and changes as you look at it. No fixed narrative is imposed upon the viewer. Instead, the work invites the viewer to discover for themselves what becomes visible between the forms: a sea of flowers, a fiery garden, a landscape, a memory, or something entirely personal.
