Product description
An ode to growth, resilience, and the silent longing for light.
In Reaching for Light, a banana plant unfolds upwards from a powerful base, as if each leaf is seeking its own path to space, air, and sun. The relief structures, built up with texture paste on a wooden panel, give the work an almost sculptural presence. Light and shadow move across the veins of the leaves, bringing the surface to life.
The soft green tones blend with the subtle green-tinted background, creating a serene, natural atmosphere. Between the organic structures, fine gold accents light up here and there like small sparks of sunlight—unexpected moments of radiance that emphasize the plant's vitality.
This work is not just about a tropical plant, but about a universal theme: the constant urge to grow, to unfold, and to reach for the light again and again, despite everything.
Reaching for Light brings together tranquility, nature, and a sense of optimism in a powerful and contemporary image that continues to invite viewing. Technique: texture paste on wooden panel, finished with a transparent protective layer and fitted with a handmade wooden frame. Dimensions: 80 x 43 x 2 cm.
Created by the driven contemporary woman Anneke Winterman. She completed her studies in Autonomous Visual Arts at the Utrecht University of the Arts in 2005. Anneke Winterman has participated in group exhibitions and solo exhibitions, has created various art commissions for private clients, and several of her works have been featured in various publications.
