Rare vintage Polish ZWW kilim “Wałowa Góra” by Aleksandra Michalak-Lewińska, c. 1960s–1970s.Impressive handwoven Polish wall kilim produced by Zakopiańskie Warsztaty Wzorcowe (ZWW), Zakopane, designed by Aleksandra Michalak-Lewińska.The work is titled “Wałowa Góra” and depicts a highly stylised mountain landscape with traditional wooden houses, trees, figures and deer. The composition combines regional Polish folk motifs with the strong graphic language associated with post-war Polish textile design.Executed in a warm palette of ochre, olive green, rust, brown, orange and burgundy against a pale woven ground.The original ZWW export label is still attached and identifies the work, designer and weaving details, which is a significant asset for provenance and collectability.Details: Aleksandra Michalak-Lewińska, ZWW Zakopane, Poland, circa 1960s–1970s. Handwoven kilim with wool weft and linen warp. Dimensions 167 x 98 cm.Condition: Very good vintage condition. Clean appearance, strong colours and no obvious major damage visible. Minor age-related wear consistent with use and age. Original label preserved.A striking example of Polish mid-century textile art, suitable as a large-scale wall hanging and particularly interesting to collectors of ZWW, Cepelia, Polish modernism and post-war European decorative arts.
