An extremely rare and documented vintage sideboard from the renowned Spanish dining room series "HIDALGO". This piece of furniture is a rare example of mid-century craftsmanship, distributed exclusively in the Benelux at the time by the furniture importer Fundex.
The cabinet is entirely hand-carved from solid wood in a Renaissance style. It features 4 drawers, and the four monumental doors display deep, highly detailed reliefs directly inspired by the 16th-century Spanish literary classic *Don Quixote de la Mancha* by Miguel de Cervantes:
Side doors: Beautifully carved busts of the knight Don Quixote and his faithful squire Sancho Panza.
Middle doors: Two dynamic, hand-carved scenes of the nobleman on horseback on his legendary mount Rocinante.
This sideboard combines an artistic appearance with the robust Brutalist aesthetic of the 1950s/60s. The furniture rests on a characteristic base with authentic, artisan-forged iron connecting bars and offers an exceptional amount of storage space. A special piece for those who love Spanish vintage, artisanal woodcarving, eclectic interiors, and unique furniture with a history.
