This unique Lurashell Apollo chair is still entirely in original condition. The upholstery is pilled slightly here and there, and very light wear is visible on the headrest.
This unique and rare armchair stands on a four-legged aluminum swivel base, complete with the original cushion.
The Lurashell Furniture Company used advanced techniques and innovative design to produce some of the most iconic chairs of that era.
The Apollo chair was part of the Planet Suite and, with its contoured seat, evoked the Space Age—a breakthrough in design. A timeless classic and a highly sought-after piece.
In the 1960s, the Lurashell Company was one of the first in the UK to use fiberglass and spray molds. Led by Herbert Wood, the Lurashell Company created a series of contemporary furniture lines in the Space Age style, inspired by Scandinavian design. Their furniture was so exclusive and of such high quality that they were allowed to supply the furniture for the first class of the Queen Elizabeth II Oceanliner.
