A striking and beautifully proportioned German mid-century desk dating from the 1950s.
Now reduced in price, it is a freestanding piece with an integrated bookshelf at the rear, allowing it to sit freely in room and not just against a wall.
I used to have it behind my sofa, so I could easily reach out and grab a book. Unfortunately, I have moved to a smaller apartment and no longer have room.
The desk features a beautifully figured walnut veneer, elegant tapered legs and three contrasting black Formica-coated drawers.
Its sculptural faceted side panels and clean architectural lines give it a distinctive modernist character, while the rear bookshelf provides practical storage without cluttering the desktop.
The desk has been restored and is structurally sound and ready to use.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition overall. There are two minor veneer dints on the front middle drawer edge, consistent with age and use. You do not notice it in normal use as it is black, below the desk top, and also hidden by the chair.
