Product description
An exceptional and highly collectible piece of early 20th-century Scandinavian modern lighting, produced by the prestigious Danish manufacturer LYFA Denmark during the 1930s-1940s.
The semi-oval studio ceramic base features a stunning, uniform matte aqua celadon glaze. It displays a beautifully embossed high-relief depicting a graceful heron nestled among stylized marsh reeds. This organic, geometric composition perfectly embodies the classic Nordic Skønvirke style—the distinctive Scandinavian transition between Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
The unglazed earthenware bottom ring features a hollowed design enclosing its original threaded brass mounting rod and shows authentic historical residue of the original red protective table-felt.
The lamp is crowned by its original, dark brown Bakelite screw socket, complete with its threaded shade collar. The socket is clearly stamped with the rectangular LYFA maker's mark on the inside and bears the historic Swedish SEMKO safety mark, guaranteeing its early Scandinavian factory origin.
Excellent vintage condition. The ceramic body is pristine with no chips, cracks, hairline fractures, or restorations. The glaze remains beautifully matte and vibrant. Fully tested and in safe, working order.
• Dimensions: 25 cm (including socket)
• Fitting: E27 Standard Screw (Bakelite)
