Product description
This chair is a creation by designer Guy Bernard for the Belgian manufacturer MEUROP, dating from 1974. The piece stands out with its bold tubular steel structure, typical of space-age design, which gives it a dynamic yet elegant silhouette. It is the 'Bern' model, a notable example of furniture produced in Belgium during the 1970s.
The chair is constructed from a single chromed steel tube that forms the base, armrests, and backrest support in a continuous, fluid movement. The seat and backrest are upholstered with their original cognac-colored skai covering, a warm brown that contrasts pleasantly with the silver sheen of the metal. This cantilever design is not only aesthetic; it also offers slight flexibility for increased comfort.
Preserved in good overall condition, this chair bears witness to its history with an authentic patina. The upholstery and structure are original, preserving the character and historical integrity of the piece. The condition is consistent with normal use for a piece of furniture nearly fifty years old. The chrome on the base is partially missing.
Thanks to its timeless design and clean lines, this Bern chair integrates harmoniously into various environments. It can serve as a distinctive office chair, an accent chair in a Mid-Century style living room, or complement a series of mismatched chairs around a dining table for a vintage touch.
