Beautiful vintage lounge armchair, produced by De Ster Geldermalsen in the 1960s. While many Dutch manufacturers from that period are nowadays primarily known for their designers, at De Ster it is the furniture itself that speaks for itself. This gentlemen's armchair (high back) is a perfect example of this. The armchair has been fully restored with respect for the original design and the characteristic patina. The solid teak frame has been carefully cleaned and refinished, allowing the wood to regain its warm appearance. Structurally, the armchair is also in excellent condition once again. A few light signs of use have been deliberately retained; they actually contribute to the authentic character of the armchair. The armchair is fitted with new, sturdy webbing and completely new cushions with high-quality foam. The cushions are upholstered in a coarser beige bouclé with subtle light brown undertones. The natural tint forms a harmonious whole with the warm teak wood, accentuates the organic lines of the frame, and simultaneously gives the armchair a contemporary look. And then the frame… that is without a doubt the highlight of this armchair. The flowing lines, impressive wood joints, and graceful arch in the frame give the design a powerful, but above all elegant appearance. Together with the generous cushions, this creates an armchair in which you can effortlessly spend an entire evening. A special and rare design that demonstrates just how strong Dutch furniture design of the 1960s could be.
