Rare and unique Danish clock and money box from the 1940s/50s, designed to be “fed” with 1 krone coins that are then collected at the bottom of the clock in a section accessible through the sliding compartment. Made for the Danish Savings Society, under the clock is the savings number 660579 and the original set of rules for savings clocks. The Danish Savings Society was the acquisition company for the Mutual Insurance Company "Danmark". Savings were promoted through the sale of savings clocks and at the same time the owners of the clocks were insured. The clock worked in such a way that it could not run unless one krone was put into the slot provided for that purpose every other day. It had to be wound up every day. Once a month, the savings man came, opened the sealed watch and signed the family savings certificate for the sum, which he took to the bank. The clock was then sealed again, ready for another round of one-krone payments. Please note that while the clock can be wound, to operate the clock requires that it is fed with old one kroner coins. As such, I cannot test it. In light of this, it is sold as a decorative piece and money box and not as working clock. Dimensions: 19 cm | W 23 cm | D 7 cm Style: Art Deco
