Product description
Rainer Geschke – Set of Three Sculptural Studio Ceramic Vases, Germany, c. 1996–1999
A remarkable and highly coherent group of three studio ceramic vases by German ceramic artist Rainer Geschke, dating from approximately 1996–1999.
Offered together as a trio, the vessels form an unusually beautiful study in proportion, surface and line. Each has a tall, softly cylindrical body with subtly differing shoulders and openings, creating three individual silhouettes that nevertheless read as a single sculptural composition.
The restrained stoneware surfaces range from warm beige to soft grey-brown tones, with delicately speckled areas adding depth and variation. Each vessel is articulated by a single fine linear element — executed in dark brown or white — travelling vertically across the body and, in places, continuing around the shoulder and opening.
The result is almost architectural: decoration is reduced to the minimum, allowing form, material and line to carry the composition.
These are particularly compelling when displayed together, where the small differences in height, colour and profile create a quiet visual rhythm. They work equally well as functional solifleur-type vessels or simply as sculptural ceramic objects.

The group is in very good vintage condition. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
An unusually refined ensemble of late 20th-century German studio ceramics — minimalist without becoming austere, and particularly strong as a complete three-piece composition.
