Product description
Raak C-1700 "Concorde" wall lamp, designed and produced by the Dutch lighting brand Raak Amsterdam in 1968.
Features of the C-1700 Concorde Design:
The lamp is constructed from a sculptural cluster of vertically curved aluminum tubes. The ends of the tubes are flattened, evoking memories of the futuristic Space Age aesthetic and airplane wings.
Lighting effect: Once the lamp is lit, an atmospheric, indirect light shines from both the top and bottom, and subtly through the tubes.
Rare model:
Limited edition: Due to its complex, sculptural form of folded aluminum, the Concorde was a more expensive and exclusive model in the catalog at the time compared to simpler basic models (such as the well-known Fuga). Simply put, fewer were made.
Fragile material: The thin, curved aluminum is prone to dents or deep scratches. Many examples have not survived the test of time or have been discarded over the years because they became damaged.
An example in good, original condition like this lamp is therefore extra rare.
