Description
Karl Dittert was a German industrial designer and university professor. Initially a professor, and from the 1970s onward, he was the rector of the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Applied Sciences for Design.
In parallel with his teaching activities, Dittert worked as a freelance industrial designer in his own studio. He worked for companies such as WMF, Lufthansa, Ritterwerke, and Bosch. His designs are now exhibited in numerous museums worldwide. The exhibits can be found at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, the Design Center Stuttgart, the Neue Sammlung Munich, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Karl Dittert only ended his work as a freelance industrial designer when he was over 90 years old.
