Product description
Offered: A magnificent, antique Japanese Imari porcelain collar vase with an impressive height of 31 cm. This vase dates from the late Meiji period (ca. 1868–1912) to the early 20th century and is a beautiful example of classic Japanese export porcelain.
The vase is hand-painted in the traditional and much-loved Imari palette: a deep cobalt blue underglaze, combined with rich iron red/orange overglaze and refined, hand-applied gold details.
Features and details:
• Origin: Japan (Arita region / Imari)
• Period: Late Meiji period / early 20th century
• Height: 31 cm
• Decoration: Large, asymmetrical windows (cartouches) with an extremely detailed natural landscape, traditional Japanese architectural elements, and blossoming plum branches. The intervening spaces are richly filled with floral motifs and golden scrollwork.
• Underside: Features an authentic, manual control mark (bar mark) from the potter, typical for this period.
Condition:
The vase is in beautiful, authentic antique condition. The colors are bright and the porcelain has a lovely sheen. Given its age, there is slight, characteristic wear to the gilding, which adds to the historical charm of the object. Completely intact without chips or hairline cracks.
A beautiful and timeless showpiece that immediately adds atmosphere and elegance to both classic and modern interiors.
