About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This sculptural shelving unit is a characteristic example of postmodern design from the 1980s. Its ladder-like shape is accentuated by a striking semicircular element, embodying the playful and geometric aesthetic of the Memphis movement. Crafted from lacquered wood, the structure presents a strong contrast of deep black and vibrant blue. The design is deliberately versatile: the shelving unit can be used freestanding or mounted horizontally on the wall, offering flexible application possibilities. Its clean lines and bold coloring make it an unmistakable piece of its time. The object is in very good condition, consistent with its age, and shows the original lacquer finish. The construction is solid and stable, which underlines the quality of craftsmanship and has preserved the character of the piece. As a functional art object, this shelving unit is excellent as a bookshelf or for displaying collectibles. It seamlessly integrates into an eclectic or 80s-inspired interior, adding a strong design accent to any living or working area.
