Stefano Bigi for Porada: Infinity I dining table
Round dining table made of solid Canaletta walnut on a stainless steel base and fitted with a tempered glass top.
Stefano Bigi (France, 1974) achieved international recognition as a top young designer with this stunning Infinity dining table. Since 2005, he has been based in Milan and runs the Stefano Bigi Design Studio, collaborating with several leading contemporary furniture manufacturers such as Architonic, Nomon Home, Pacini & Cappelinni, MatteoGrassi, and Porada.
The idea behind Stefano Bigi's work is a thorough investigation into the right balance between aesthetics and comfort, form and function, in an effort to create a design that transcends the rules of perception while simultaneously meeting the user's needs. As the viewer walks around this piece, the three circles appear to float in space. Exactly what Bigi envisioned.
"I design furniture for those who see so much more in a chair than just a seat with four legs." I strive to evoke emotion, to invite people to sit down or use my furniture when they encounter it. For me, a piece of furniture isn't just a designer's product; it's the result of a collaboration between the designer's insight and the manufacturer's technical skills, between form and technical imperatives. Achieving a balance between innovation and rationalization is the driving force that drives me to new horizons.
