Very rare collector's item. Large round art ceramic dish from the Mid-Century era (circa 1960), bearing the stamped mark "BIOT Made in France" on the base.
Made of ceramic, this 30 cm diameter dish features a very dark brown, almost black base, onto which geometric patterns have been applied. The decorations in yellow and orange tones, with a central blue accent, are raised, creating visual texture and depth. The unglazed reverse reveals the terracotta and bears the potter's stamp, confirming its origin from Biot, a village renowned for its ceramic tradition.
The piece is in excellent condition, with a patina that testifies to its history while preserving the integrity of its design. The glaze is intact and retains its original luster, and the hand-painted colors remain vibrant. Only very slight, barely visible surface micro-scratches from use.
Ideal as a centerpiece on a table, console, or sideboard, this dish can also be displayed as a wall art piece. Its unique aesthetic fits perfectly into Mid-Century Modern, rustic, or bohemian interiors, adding a touch of character and history.
