Product description
This is a distinctive piano stool from the early 20th century, crafted in the expressive style of the Amsterdam School. The piece is defined by its solid oak construction and functional, height-adjustable design, embodying the movement's emphasis on artisanal skill and strong, sculptural forms. The stool features a robust tripod base constructed from solid oak, which supports a turned central column and a circular wooden platform. A prominent cast iron screw mechanism allows for easy height adjustment of the seat. The round, padded seat is upholstered in a sage green textile, likely a durable velvet or chenille, and is finished with a decorative braided trim around its circumference. This combination of materials is characteristic of the period and the Dutch origin of the design. This piece presents in a good, vintage condition, consistent with its age and history of use. The wooden frame retains its original finish, which has developed a rich patina over the decades. The upholstery is also original, showing signs of its long life which contribute to its authentic character. The mechanical screw function remains fully operational. Beyond its original purpose at a piano, this stool serves as a versatile accent piece. Its unique silhouette makes it a compelling addition to a study, living room, or hallway, complementing interiors with Art Deco, classic, or eclectic design sensibilities. 50cm Low. 62cm High.
