Product description
This is a set of two 'Timor 69' table lamps, designed by Louis Kalff for Philips in the 1960s. These lamps are a characteristic example of Kalff's work as artistic director at Philips, combining functionality with a refined, modernist aesthetic.
The lamps are made of metal, with a heavy, round base that provides stability. The shades, one round and one oval variant, are designed to diffuse a focused, non-glaring light, ideal for a desk or side table. The combination of the black base, the cream-colored fixture, and the grey-lacquered shade is typical of the mid-century color palette.
This set is in good, vintage condition, reflecting the character and history of the objects. The original finish and components have been preserved, contributing to the authenticity of the lamps. The overall condition is consistent with their age and use over the years.
As icons of Dutch Design, these lamps fit seamlessly into both vintage and contemporary interiors. They function excellently as a pair on a sideboard or individually as a reading lamp or ambient lighting in a living or working space.
