About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
A complete furniture set (partially) designed by French designer Philippe Starck for the Italian manufacturer Driade. This set includes three iconic 'Costes' (dining) chairs, a matching dining/conference table, and a display cabinet/filing cabinet, all characteristic of Starck's postmodern aesthetic from the 1980s.
The 'Costes' chair, originally designed in 1984 for the Parisian café of the same name, is characterized by its enveloping, curved wooden shell and a stable three-legged base. The chairs in this set are finished in a warm brown wood veneer with a black leather seat and a black lacquered metal frame.
The oval dining table has a top in a matching wood tone and rests on a striking, cylindrical black base. A unique feature of the table is the integrated storage space in the base, accessible via a sliding door.
The accompanying display cabinet is made from the same warm wood and has doors with glass panels, giving a light and open feel. The interior of the cabinet is contrasting black, which accentuates the displayed objects. The overall condition of the set is very good.
