Gabbeh rugs are a type of Persian carpet and have a long history. They originated in Fars, Iran, where they were woven by the Ghashghai tribe using hand-spun wool. They are dyed with natural dyes made from various plants and minerals; the name Gabbeh means ‘natural’ or ‘pure’ in Persian and the aesthetics and patterns reflect the cycle of life.
