Rare MP-81 lounge chair by Percival Lafer for Lafer MP, designed in the 1970s, an iconic example of Brazilian mid-century modern design. This sculptural armchair combines a solid jacaranda wood frame with thick, generously padded cushions, newly upholstered in supple light brown leather. The deep seat and relaxed proportions reflect Lafer's strong focus on ergonomics and comfort, while the exposed wooden construction lends the design an architectural character. The innovative construction consists of a sturdy fiberglass shell supported by solid wood legs, creating an almost floating effect despite the robust form. The warm leather upholstery adds softness and depth and forms a beautiful contrast with the rich wood tones. A distinctive and exceptionally comfortable statement armchair that perfectly captures the bold yet relaxed atmosphere of 1970s Brazilian design. In very good vintage condition with new leather and only light signs of wear on the wood consistent with its age.
