Founded in Novara in 1937, the Pavesi company established itself as one of the great Italian biscuit manufacturers of the 20th century. Its lithographed tin boxes, produced for holiday assortments, were designed as true prestige items. They are now sought after by Italian and European collectors. The lid of this box features a portrait of a young girl in the style of Renoir, with a black dress with a lace collar, blue stockings, and a warm ochre background. The chromolithography is of remarkable quality for an industrial box of that era. The golden interior retains its original marking: Pavesi – Biscottini di Novara – fine assortimento biscotti. The box is complete, the hinged lid opens and closes correctly. Wear and chipping on the lid, a consistent usage patina for its age, visible in the photos. Length: approximately 20 cm. Width: approximately 14 cm. Height: approximately 5 cm.
