Product description
This work is a coastal landscape attributed to the French Neo-Impressionist painter Paul Signac (1863-1935). The piece is a characteristic example of the Pointillist technique, a method Signac helped develop alongside Georges Seurat, which defined the Neo-Impressionist movement. Executed in tempera and other media on a 25 x 20 cm surface, the composition uses a meticulous application of individual dots of color. The palette consists of vibrant blues, greens, and yellows set against softer lavender and cream tones to capture the shimmering quality of light on water. The reverse of the artwork bears a stamp from 'Galerie Urban, Paris', suggesting a part of its provenance. The work is accompanied by an art certificate issued in 2012. The painting is presented unframed and appears in a well-preserved state, with the colors retaining their original vibrancy. The artist's signature, 'P. Signac', is clearly visible in the lower-left corner, rendered in blue paint. The overall condition is consistent with its age, showing the character of a historical piece. With its significant art historical context and manageable dimensions, this piece is well-suited for a private study, a curated gallery wall, or as a distinguished addition to a collection of European modern art. It offers the opportunity to own a work in the style of a pivotal figure in the avant-garde movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
