Paul Kingma Style / Brutalist Rectangular Natural Stone Art Coffee Table by M. Kingma - Netherlands 1988 - 120cm
Rare brutalist handmade art table by sculptor M. Kingma (Marcus Kingma), Netherlands 1988. Signed M. KINGMA 88 (see last photo).
This unique table comes from the famous Kingma studio. As the son of the well-known sculptor Paul Kingma (1931-2013), Marcus grew up making these tables and later developed his own style. His designs are aimed at the German market, making them rarer in the Netherlands.
The heavy rectangular top with rounded corners is made of concrete, inlaid with a mosaic of slate, natural stone, bronze, copper and brass - a true work of art. The composition features warm brown, ocher and gold tones with brass ring inlays. No two tables are the same.
The top rests on an oval wooden pedestal base, which provides a warm contrast to the raw stone top. With a height of 50 cm, this piece can be used as both a statement coffee table and a compact 2-person dining table / work table.
