About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
A modular wall system designed by Cees Braakman for the Dutch manufacturer Pastoe. This piece of furniture is a representative example of the sleek, functional aesthetic characteristic of post-war Dutch design. The design embodies the principles of 'good living' with its clean lines and versatile storage options, a signature of Braakman's work for Pastoe.
The system is finished in white lacquer and combines closed cabinets, drawers, open compartments, and a display section with glass doors and shelves. One of the elements functions as a bar cabinet with a drop-down door that can serve as a serving surface. Another compartment is specifically designed for placing a television, with doors that conceal the screen when not in use. The minimalist, handleless design is accentuated by subtle metal handles.
The overall condition of the wall system is very good, retaining its original finish. The modular structure offers flexibility in organizing personal belongings, from books and decorative objects to media equipment and glassware. The furniture piece testifies to a timeless character and a well-thought-out design that remains relevant decades after its production.
This Pastoe wall system is a statement piece that seamlessly integrates into both modern and mid-century interiors. It offers an elegant and comprehensive solution for storage and display in a living room or study.
