The Steltman Chair is Gerrit Rietveld's last design, created at the age of 75. With its clean lines and planes, the chair forms an asymmetrical whole that offers a new perspective from every angle.

Seat height: 40 cm

Its apparent simplicity makes the chair a typical example of Rietveld's design philosophy and an international design classic.
Rietveld designed the Steltman Chair for The Hague jeweler Steltman, as part of the interior design for his new store. Two mirrored chairs were positioned by a glass counter where customers selected jewelry and wedding rings. In doing so, they acquired a symbolic meaning: two separate forms that together represent a unity.
