About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
The Pastoe Made to Measure sideboard, designed by Cees Braakman, stands as a defining example of mid-century Dutch design. This specific piece is highly desirable for its clean architectural lines, functional aesthetic, and the canonical combination of warm wood with crisp white surfaces.
Constructed with a robust wood frame, the cabinet features contrasting white drop-down doors and three drawers, offering versatile storage solutions. The minimalist silhouette is elevated by slender metal legs, which impart a sense of lightness to the substantial form. Produced during the mid-twentieth century, the design reflects Braakman's commitment to modularity and practical elegance. The interior reveals dark wood finishing, providing a sophisticated contrast when the drop-down doors are opened.
The sideboard remains in good vintage condition, retaining its original structural integrity and functional hardware. The materials exhibit a natural patina, preserving the historical authenticity and character of the piece.
This sideboard serves as a strong focal point in modern and mid-century interiors, providing both practical storage and historical design value. It pairs effectively with minimalist furnishings in a living room, dining space, or executive office, grounding the environment with its timeless proportions.
There has been a repair on one of the folding doors hinges (see photo). There is friction on the two drawers when opening.
