The Pastoe DB02 sideboard by Cees Braakman – Berkenserie is a remarkable example of early Dutch modern design. Designed in the 1950s, during a period when Cees Braakman helped shape the face of Pastoe with innovative ideas. With its clean lines, innovative construction, and well-thought-out functionality, this model grew into one of the most recognizable designs from the famous Berkenserie.
This sideboard is finished in light birch veneer, giving the piece a fresh, calm appearance that complements the minimalist design beautifully. Behind the four doors is a practical layout featuring shelves and four drawers. These drawers are Pastoe's characteristic anti-dust drawers: thanks to the slightly curved bottom, hardly any dust accumulates inside. The distinctive plywood loop legs give the furniture its iconic silhouette and create a light, almost floating appearance. It is precisely this combination of functionality and innovative design that makes the piece so special.
The sideboard is in very beautiful vintage condition. The exterior of the furniture has been given a new coat of lacquer, giving the birch wood a fresh and well-maintained appearance once again. Additionally, the furniture has been professionally inspected, preserving the original construction and the character of this special design.
An iconic Dutch design classic that effortlessly combines simplicity, innovation, and timeless elegance.
