Beautiful clean original 1st edition floor lamp by Verner Panton for Louis Poulsen, 1972. The original edition has the on/off switch integrated in the base, and not -like the recent models- on the cord. The design is inspired on the mushroom shaped cloud that a neutron bomb leaves when detonated; like on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. This is an all-time design classic from one of the most influential designers of the 20th century, mostly for his Space Age designs, Verner Panton. It is manufactured by Louis Paulsen Denmark, in the early 1970’s. The lamp is numbered and tagged under the base with the manufacturers name. Some signs of wear are noticeable, but taken into account that the light is 50 years old, it is in an amazingly good condition. For an additional fee we can supply the original 3-step grading light bulb with it. This bulb works with the switch for a 60W, 100W, 160W light intensity. The lamp is still wired for this, so it works directly like it should when this bulb is used. Please note that these bulbs are not made anymore and that they are extremely rare to find, we have 3 of these left in stock. If you’re using a current bulb with this lamp, you’ll have to push the switch twice to turn it on, and twice again to turn it off. Please ask if you want the original 1972 bulb supplied with the lamp. We also have the original table model available, as well as some rare 1970’s colored specimen of this lamp. Please contact us for more info.
