Spectacular vintage chandelier by Palwa, Germany, made of gilded brass and featuring a large number of heavy glass teardrop elements. The lamp has the characteristic organic Palwa construction with dozens of curved brass arms that extend outwards from the center like a fountain. A large, solid glass drop hangs from each arm. The different heights create a particularly full and layered shape. The glass elements are strikingly large and heavy. The clear glass beautifully catches the light and, in combination with the gold-colored frame, creates a warm, almost jewel-like appearance. Even when the lamp is not lit, it is an impressive sculptural object. The chandelier has multiple light points integrated between the glass drops. This illuminates the glass both from within and all around, creating a particularly beautiful light effect in the evening. A distinct example of glamorous German design from the 60s/70s and characteristic of the luxury lighting for which Palwa is known. Beautiful within a Hollywood Regency, mid-century, eclectic or modern interior. The chandelier is in beautiful original vintage condition with signs of wear appropriate for its age. The glass drops are individually attached to the frame and can be removed for transport.
