About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Iconic palm tree table lamp designed by Christian Techoueyres for Maison Jansen, France, circa 1970s.
Executed in finely worked brass, this sculptural lamp is composed of individually shaped elements forming the trunk and layered palm leaves, showcasing Maison Jansen’s exceptional craftsmanship and decorative sophistication. Two light sources are discreetly positioned beneath the foliage, creating a warm, indirect glow while keeping the bulbs visually hidden.
Resting on a contrasting black base with brass detailing, this lamp functions both as a statement table lamp and a sculptural decorative object. A highly collectible Maison Jansen model, increasingly rare on the vintage market and emblematic of 1970s French luxury design.
Designer & Manufacturer Christian Techoueyres collaborated with Maison Jansen on some of the firm’s most recognizable sculptural lighting designs during the 1970s. Maison Jansen, founded in Paris in the 19th century, was one of the most influential interior design houses of the 20th century, renowned for its refined use of materials, bespoke craftsmanship, and timeless decorative pieces.
Note for Collectors: Companion 55 cm Model Available
This impressive 90 cm statement lamp can be paired with its smaller 55 cm version, which is also currently available for sale from the same private collection. While the 90 cm model serves as a grand sculptural centerpiece, adding the 55 cm lamp creates a dynamic, multi-level botanical display. We invite you to search for the '55 cm Techoueyres Palm Lamp' on the platform or contact Whoppah's concierge service for more information on acquiring the pair to achieve a curated, asymmetrical balance.
