About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This is a pair of vintage Danish dining chairs attributed to the designer Henning Kjærnulf. Crafted from solid oak, these chairs exemplify the unique intersection of Scandinavian modernism and rustic, almost Brutalist, design principles for which Kjærnulf is known. The design is distinguished by its solid construction and the characterful detailing of the frame.
The chairs feature a robust oak frame with elegantly curved backrests and notably turned front legs, a signature element in many of Kjærnulf's designs. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a durable, high-quality textile. This fabric presents a striking striped pattern in a palette of deep blue, gold, and black, which is affixed to the frame with decorative metal studs, adding a traditional touch to the modern silhouette.
Presented in excellent vintage condition, this pair of chairs has been well-maintained, preserving the integrity of both the wood and the upholstery. The oak has developed a warm, natural patina that speaks to its history and enhances its organic texture. The overall structure is sound and ready for continued use, retaining its original character and aesthetic appeal.
This versatile pair would serve as distinctive dining chairs or as elegant accent seating in a living room or study. Their design complements a range of interior styles, from classic Scandinavian and Mid-Century Modern to more eclectic and contemporary settings, pairing well with a simple wooden dining table.
The item is shipped directly from Denmark. Delivery time approx 3-4 weeks
