Product description
A beautiful pair of Spanish Mid-Century table lamps, entirely hand-carved from natural alabaster, featuring a distinctive sculptural cylindrical form.
Each lamp is composed entirely of alabaster, including both the cylindrical body and the substantial circular base. The central section of the body is finely carved with closely spaced vertical grooves, creating a richly textured surface that contrasts beautifully with the smooth cylindrical sections above and below. The circular bases are similarly carved with vertical fluting around the edge, adding further depth and continuity to the design.
The natural alabaster displays subtle variations in colour, translucency and mineral veining, giving each lamp its own individual character. When illuminated, the translucent stone comes alive with a warm, atmospheric glow, revealing the natural structure and patterning within the material.
The restrained geometric silhouette combined with the tactile hand-carved surface gives the pair a distinctive sculptural quality, characteristic of Spanish alabaster craftsmanship of the Mid-Century period.
The lamps are offered as a matching pair and retain their original period character. While the precise designer or manufacturer has not yet been identified, closely comparable Spanish alabaster lamps of this form are documented from the Mid-Century period.
Condition:
Both lamps are in very good vintage condition, with only minor signs of age consistent with their period, adding character to the design.
