Product description
A distinctive pair of Mid-Century Modern wall lights produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s. Each fixture combines two elongated white opaline glass shades with a sculptural glossy black Bakelite body, creating a strong graphic contrast characteristic of postwar Central European modernist design. The gently rounded glass shades soften the otherwise geometric composition and provide an attractive diffused light when illuminated. Each wall lamp retains its pull-cord switch, an appealing and functional period detail. The combination of opaline glass and black Bakelite gives these sconces a particularly striking appearance, bridging Mid-Century Modern, Space Age and functionalist design. Their compact proportions make them suitable as bedside lights, hallway sconces, bathroom mirror lights or decorative accent lighting. The lamps have been carefully cleaned and repolished. The electrical components have been renewed and checked. They remain in very good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use consistent with their period. Sold as a pair.
