This pair of low, solid wood cabinets was likely originally the two lower end pieces of a substantial piece of cabinetmaking furniture, as evidenced by their curved exterior and straight interior.
Now repurposed, their low height makes them ideal bedside tables for a futon or as minimalist end tables at floor level.
The exterior structure and drawer fronts are made of solid wood, with traditional joinery combining doweling and mortise and tenon joints. The back and side panels are made of plywood. Each cabinet retains its original patinated brass handle. Workshop markings in chalk ("III" and "4") are still visible underneath.
The entire piece has been carefully sanded and then protected with a clear varnish that highlights the wood grain while providing excellent surface protection. The wood has a beautiful patina and remains in very good condition.
Please note: the plywood panels, being more delicate than the solid wood parts, exhibit some slight variations in color that appeared during sanding. These nuances are subtle and blend harmoniously with the overall appearance.
One of the drawers also has a slight play in its original assembly; it may need to be gently guided when opening to slide smoothly. This does not affect its sturdiness or functionality.
Sold only as a pair.
